Israel has just bombed a hospital where hundreds of wounded and refugees were taking solace. Journalists in Gaza have reported there was hardly a single body whole in the aftermath (If you can stomach it, there's a video of a father holding what remains of his child). At least 500 people killed by IOF soldiers, who planned this action, got into an airplane and dropped that bomb willingly. The deadliest attack in five wars, according to the Ministry of Health.
Israel has denied ownership of the attack and said it was a misfired Hamas rocket. Originally, they celebrated it on their social media, saying they had destroyed a Hamas target, treating the deaths like an unfortunate collateral. After international backlash, they posted videos to their social media claiming it was a Hamas rocket. The video, though, shows a second explosion 40 minutes after the airstrike, and they edited it our of their tweet in a pathetic attempt at covering up.
Israel has said multiple times that they were going to bomb hospitals. They told doctors to evacuate and leave their patients to death because they were going to bomb, namely: Al Shifa, Shuhada Al Aqsa and the Quwaiti Hospital. Al Shifa housed at least 10.000 refugees and wounded, and worked as a hub for the press because it was one of the only hospitals that still had working generators. Medical crew worked with sirens blaring to signal the hospitals were not empty. This was a purposeful massacre. These people died hungry, thirsty and in pain because of the Israeli government's cruelty.
CNN and other media outlets already tried to pin the blame on Hamas, parroting back the pathetic propaganda being sold by the IOF. Even in death, Palestinians can't be respected and are used to further their own oppression. These people's deaths are not going to be in vain. Within our lifetimes, Palestine will be free.
Take action. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting today after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works.

Protests in support have already erupted in Beirut, Madrid and Rabat in response to the shelling of the hospital. Join your local protest and raise your voices. For people in the US, Israel has just asked for additional $10bi in aid on top of the annual $3.8bi already given to them. Palestinians are asking that you refuse this loudly, with their every breath.
Here's a constantly updating list of protests:

US Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) advised the Columbia University administration to “keep heads down” in response to criticism they faced for their handling of surging antisemitism on campus, according to a new report from the US House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
“Universities’ political problems are really only among Republicans,” Schumer reportedly said, suggesting Democrats did not have a problem with the way administrators were handling antisemitism on campus.
The report sparked backlash against Schumer because in the aftermath of Hamas’s Oct 7. attack on Israel, in which the Palestinian terrorist group killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages, anti-Israel and oftentimes pro-terrorist activism exploded on college campuses across the US. In the weeks following last Oct. 7, dozens of videos of young people tearing down posters put up to cultivate awareness about the hostages went viral. Additionally, Students for Justice in Palestine chapters across the country came out in support of the terrorist attack, framing it as legitimate resistance.
When asked, Schumer and his staff indicated they did not believe it was necessary for the university’s leaders to meet with Republicans,” the congressional report stated.
One of Columbia’s board of trustees co-chairs, David Greenwald, wrote in a message to the school’s president that “if we are keeping our head down, maybe we shouldn’t meet with Republicans.”
The more than 300-page report found “a stunning lack of accountability by university leaders for students engaging in antisemitic harassment, assault, trespass, and destruction of school property.”
In a statement to the New York Post, Schumer spokesman Angelo Roefaro said the report was not accurate.
“Sen. Schumer regularly and forcefully condemned antisemitic acts at Columbia and elsewhere, saying ‘when protests shift to antisemitism, verbal abuse, intimidation, or glorification of Oct. 7 violence against Jewish people, that crosses the line.’ He conveyed this point publicly and to administrators privately,” Roefaro said.
He added, “It’s worthy to note here that Republicans are citing words from someone who is not Chuck Schumer. That is called hearsay.”
This incident reportedly occurred a few months into the Israel-Hamas war, and before “Gaza Solidarity Encampments” began to pop up on campuses across the country during the spring, and another wave of scrutiny followed.
The Algemeiner documented dozens of statements at Columbia just within the first week of the movement that were explicitly pro-terrorist.
Some encampments had to be forcefully removed after protesters got violent, invaded school buildings, and/or resisted the police when asked to disperse.
The response by universities to all of this was lackluster, claimed the report, which concluded that there was “a stunning lack of accountability by university leaders for students engaging in antisemitic harassment, assault, trespass, and destruction of school property.”

Here's a DC fun fact for everyone: So like the US has the Waffle House Indicator for natural disasters, Washington DC has the Pizza Meter for how bad our week is going to get.
What is the Pizza Meter, you ask? Well, when there's shit going down around the world, pizza places around our goverment offices - the White House, the Capitol/congressional buildings, State Department, and Pentagon/Department of Defense especially - get busy.
Here's a not so fun fact tonight: The Pentagon's Papa John's is super busy tonight.
Tumblr media
(Papa Johns is the red marker. The Pentagon is in blue on the right.)
As for what's going on: The Iranian president is missing after his helicopter crashed earlier today while returning from Azerbaijan. Foggy weather is hampering rescue efforts. Washington Post coverage if anyone is interested.

Since everyone's sharing their peeves...
Capitol instead of capital.
The Capitol is a building in Washington DC.
Washington DC is the capital city of the US.

When is the US election?
It will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Polls will open as early as 5am local time in some jurisdictions and close as late as 8pm.
When will we know the result of the US election?
Officials will start counting votes once the polls close in their state — and results will start being known within a few hours.
Who is running for president?
In alphabetical order, the main contenders are:
• Kamala Harris (Democrats)
• Donald Trump (Republican)
How is the president elected?
They need at least 270 electors to win.
The public doesn't get to directly decide on who becomes the next president and vice president.
Instead, the decision is made through the Electoral College, which is made up of 538 electors who then cast a vote for the candidate.
Tumblr media
Electors are actual people representing their area and vote according to the local results.
It differs between states how these electors are chosen and how many each jurisdiction has to represent them, but they're generally chosen by political parties.
California has the most electoral college votes with 54, while other states have as few as three.
Here's a basic view of how it works:
1.Voters cast their ballot for president, which goes toward a statewide tally
2.With the exception of two states that use a proportional system, the winner of the statewide tally gets all the electoral votes for that state
3.A presidential candidate needs the vote of at least 270 electors to win the election
The Electoral College won't make its official vote on whether the next president until mid-December but we'll know the result of the election much sooner.
Can someone win the popular vote but lose the election?
Yes.
It’s possible for a candidate to win the Electoral College vote despite not being the general public’s choice.
This has happened only a handful of times:
2016
2000
1888
1874
1826
When will the president be sworn in?
On January 20, 2025.
That day is known as Inauguration Day and happens every four years on that date (or January 21 if the 20th falls on a Sunday).
The ceremony takes place at the Capitol building in Washington, DC.
